Life after the Rally - Grumpy takes to the trails

Postby ihatemybike » Mon Jul 19, 2010 11:24 am

Had quite a bit of fun with my wife's Jeep group this weekend at the Badlands Off-Road Park located in Attica, IN. Grumpy did a lot better stock than I thought it would. I was only stupid with it once and got high centered on a section of trail that others encouraged me to try.

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which one is not like the others, before I finish this song.

First stop the quarry.

Can I go up?

No, but I can go down.

Didn't make it.

Big puddle.

That looks like fun.

Dive! Dive!

I stuck

Managed to shake the exhaust out of all of its hangers while running through the creek. Kinda noisy.

I was thinking MTs.

This was Grumpy's first of many real off-road adventures (I hope). I wanted the first one to be completely stock just to see what it could do (ok, I took the front bumper cover off). I already have a 2 inch lift kit waiting for me to find the time to install it.

Love it! Grumpy is almost cool enough to make me regret that I used to detest Astro vans in the late 90's. (In my defense, it was a corporate pool car and had been abused by too many people to be worth a darn.)

Way cool! I saw the tweets, but with pictures so much better! (someday, I'll get to jeep camp)

Last night a buyer for the Green Bidet (BABE2009) came by, and his "mechanical advisor" buddies met him a few minutes later, in a 5-speed Astro van that the buyer made sure to inform me was a very rare model.

By the time they left, I was sure that one of the buddies was going home to look up the rally as soon as he got home. He was really interested.

And yes, Biddy appears to have a new home. The transaction should be completed tomorrow, and they'll be fixing the recently sprung-a-leak gas line, then driving her away. Sometimes when you wait, the "right" new owner comes along.

Yeah, not very common. One day I will own one. I hear the Borg T-5 transmission that they used is nothing special though.
